How to Crochet knit ENGLISH (Official Video) Baby Mary Jane Bootie Shoes Newborn Feet – Free Class

this will show how to make baby mary-jane slippers this is the size I have ended up with using a size H crochet hook it’s made with 4 ply yarn and a size H or 5 millimeter crochet hook start by adding the slipknot to your crochet hook take the tail wrap it over the yarn fold it over the main strand of yarn put your hook below the main strand and back up pull it snug now you have a slip knot chain to wrap the yarn over your hook put it through the first chain wrap the yarn over pull it through wrap the yarn over your hook pull through one loop wrap the yarn over pull through all three loops you’ve completed the first foundation half double crochet wrap the yarn over your hook you’ll take and put the hook through the two loops at the bottom of the stitches wrap the yarn over pull the Strand through wrap the yarn over pull through one loop wrap the yarn over pull through the three remaining loops you’ve completed the second foundation half double crochet the foundation stitches will be worked vertically from your crochet hook I’ll wrap the yarn over your hook put the hook through this loop this loop here at the bottom wrap the yarn over pull it through once wrap the yarn over pull through one loop wrap the yarn over pull through all three loops to complete the third foundation half double crochet you continue on until you have completed eight this will count as the first side of the first round now we’re going to work four more half double crochet in the same stitch which is this foundation half double crochet we just created put the hook right through the base of the stitch this is the first stitch the second the third and the fourth work one half double crochet in each stitch across and this will be working opposite the previous half double crochet that’s a third stitch four five six work for half double crochet in the last stitch one two three four join with the beginning stitch there will be a total of 22 half double crochet round to work a chain and pull up I’m going to work two full half double crochet in the same stitch work one half double crochet in each of the next six stitches one two three four five six for the increase work 2 half-double crochet in the next stitch work one half double crochet in the next stitch work two half double crochet in the next stitch work one half double crochet in the next stitch work two half double crochet in the last stitch for the increases and we’ve added three extra stitches on this end right here work one half double crochet in each of the next six stitches there’s two three four five six work two half double crochet in the next stitch work one half double crochet in the next stitch work two half double crochet and then that stitch work one half double crochet in the next stitch now we’ve already made our increase at the beginning so what we’ll do is join with the beginning half double crochet this is what we have for two rounds there will be a total of 28 stitches round two rounds three and four will be one half double crochet in each stitch around for a total of 28 I like to work the stitches through the back loop only and this will be an example of back loop only work the first half double crochet now I’m going through this back loop right here typically I’ll go through both like this but I’m going through the back loop only and if you would like to go through both loops you can do it and it will work just the same you continue around to the beginning for a total of 28 I’m finishing the 28th half double crochet join with the beginning stitch now we have this little edge right here sometimes I like to do a row of single crochet or some type of decorative effect around this little edge right here now chain pull up work one half double crochet in each half double crochet around for a total of 28 on round 4 I’m working the last stitch on round 4 joining with the beginning half double crochet now I’m going to cut the yarn we are going to be making the toe top so there are going to be a lot of stitches on the crochet hook when we’re finished I have added a slip knot to my crochet hook I want to find the center of the slipper now count back 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 attach the yarn with a slip stitch now work a chain of two we will be working through twelve stitches at the toe wrap the yarn over the hook insert the hook through the second stitch pull it up leave it on the hook wrap the yarn over and insert it through the third pull it through wrap the yarn over the hook and insert it through the fourth wrap the yarn over the hook insert it through the fifth wrap the yarn over the hook insert the hook through the sixth stitch and pull it up like that wrap the yarn over the hook insert it through the seventh wrap the yarn over the hook insert it through the eighth wrap the yarn over the hook and insert it through the nine ten eleven twelve now wrap the yarn over the hook and hopefully it will go through all the loops on the hook chain to secure all the loops pull the loop snug and cut a long length of tail we want to secure this a little bit better so it doesn’t come apart now pull the tail on through now get your needle we’re going to weave the tail through these stitches around in circles pulling it snug we don’t want it coming apart that’s probably enough times now I’m going to make a knot and make a second knot now this time I’m going to hide the tail and cut it off now cut off the tail and we’ve completed the toe top now is a good time to sew in some of the tails and get them out of the way you will need to attach the yarn on the opposite side if you want a strap that closes on the right side and one that closes on the left side this one I attached on the right okay we want to skip one two half double crochet and in the third work a slip stitch work one half double crochet in each of the next 12 one two three four five six seven eight 9 10 11 12 we have to open stitches on this side to open stitches on this side now we want to work the strap and what I’m going to do is work 5 foundation half double crochet the first foundation half double crochet will be worked in the stitch that I just completed so I’m going to put my hook in wrap the yarn over pull it through wrap the yarn over pull through one loop wrap the yarn over pull through all three that’s my first foundation half double crochet wrap the yarn over now I’m working it just like I worked the regular foundation half double crochet two three for five now I’ve completed the strap I already know from making this slipper that I’m going to need a chain of four at the end which will be my loop to secure the strap around the button work a chain of four and then slip stitch in the opposite side of the stitch I’m going to cut the yarn pull it through give it a good tug you will be able to adjust the chain to different sizes for different size buttons I’m working on the inside of the slipper and I have my tapestry needle and a length of yarn and I’m sewing it in here and I’m going to attach the button I want to be careful not to pull the tail all the way through I’ll make a couple of knots I’ll run the needle to the front side now line your button and start sewing it on that’s probably good I’m going to make a couple of knots on the backside I had the tail between the stitches cut the tail the slippers are complete

  5. Hi there, saw this video and i was amazed.. very precise.. however, i tried it and it's quite hard for me especially if im using a different hook.. my hook is a STEEL #6 and i'm using a crochet thread used for doilies.. is there any specific yarn i can use for my hook? and should the count be different? thank you in advanced

  6. The count will be different when using thread and a steel crochet hook. The whole pattern will need modified for a smaller hook and thread.

  7. +Dalia M –  The pattern would need some modification for a larger foot in working some extra increase rounds and stitches.  The toe top would also need modified.

  8. You taught me how to crochet 2yrs ago just by watching you, and you being so very patient. I started out making scarves.. and now I'm making things for my twins who are due in Feb.2014. Thank you for helping me grow~~

  11. I love all of your videos. You make it so easy. I ended up with 32 instead of 28 on second round. Should I start over?

  12. I was looking for something like this to send to a friend who is having a baby girl soon….. Thank you Theresa I absolutely love your videos. God bless you for sharing them with us.

  13. I Have made several of these and they are very cute. I was wondering why you need to make the chain 2 (see 11:50) before gathering all those 12 stitches? the chain shows on one side and there isn't one on the other. It makes the front look a little lopsided. I will try the next one without it, It doesn't seem to need that chain since there's no  chain on  he opposite side after finishing the 12 stitches you pull up on the hook and pull through. Is there supposed to be an ending chain after shaping the toe that was perhaps left out? Thanks!

  14.  In the round after back loops, you slipped stitched twice. First to join and then again. Then you did a stitch in the join. I have never seen this before.

  15. Do you have a WRITTEN version of this shoe pattern?? please send me the link to it please =D thanks

  16. @Cats Purrfect Here is the link to the written instructions for this slipper.

(Increase Section) (This next section has increase stitches to form the rounded shaping of the slipper) 2 HDC in the next ST, 1 HDC in the next St, 2 HDC in the next ST, 1 HDC in the next ST, 2 HDC in the next ST. 1 HDC in ea of the next 6 St's, (Increase Section) 2 HDC in the next ST, 1 HDC in the next ST, 2 HDC in the next ST, 1 HDC in the next St, join. Toe Top
Find the center of the slipper. Count back 6 stitches and attach the yarn. CH 2. There are going to be a lot of stitches on the hook for the top top. Wrap the yarn over the hook, insert through the next stitch, leave the loops on the hook. Do this 11 times total. When all the loops have been completed, wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through all the loops being careful not to drop loops off of the hook. Adjust the final loop for a tight closure. Chain to secure. Cut a long tail, pull the yarn through the chain. Sew the tail through the stitches a couple of times to make sure the stitches are nice and secure. Knot and sew in the tail.

    Strap
Skip 2 stitches. Attach the yarn to the 3rd stitch. Ch 1, pull up and work 12 HDC. There will be 2 stitches on each side left unworked. Work 5 Foundation Half Double Crochet to make the strap. The first FHDC will be worked in the same stitch as the last HDC. NOTE: Attach the yarn to the opposite side for the second slipper so you have a closure on each side.

    Button Loop
Chain 5 for the button loop or according to your button size. Join with the opposite end of the Half Double Crochet. Cut the yarn and sew in the tail.

  20. Okay … I can't find the written instructions for these Baby Mary Jane slippers… I even joined/subscribed to something but no instructions have magically appeared. At 81, I prefer to read a pattern and just follow the directions. The video is helpful at times, but I do not work at the same pace as the instructor …. so I get too frustrated to do a whole item in that manner. WHERE can I find the written instructions????

  21. How sweet you are to give me such attention. I shall be making these awesome Mary Janes ASAP…. I'm taking a short break now as I did so much for the baby shower, which was Saturday. But the baby due date isn't until 2/12/15… AND now I know the baby is a girl. I'm in Mary Jane heaven!!! Karis Joy will be my 1st great grandchild.
P.S. THESE are my very favorite of all the Mary Janes on YouTube.

  22. Very nice pattern. I enjoyed making this and you are a exellent teacher. Do you have a video on booties for 6 to 9 months that is exactly like this as well?

  23. I want to get my GF a pair of slipper, should I go with the blue, black or red? I appreciate any advice thank you. (^‿^v)
