Kayla Drescher: Magic in Heels

OUR NEXT GUEST IS DOING WHAT SHE LOVES THE MOST, MAGIC. RYAN: SHE WAS DAVID COPPERFIELD’S CHOICE AS THE NEXT GREAT MAGICIAN IN 2013. KAYLA, WELCOME TO CT STYLE. YOU ARE AVERAGING — ORIGINALLY FROM WALLINGFORD. WHAT A BETTER TIME TO COME HOME THAN FEBRUARY. I AM REALLY GOOD AT SCHEDULING. TERESA: WHEN DID YOU START MAGIC? CALEB: I STARTED WHEN I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD — KAYLA: I STARTED WHEN I WAS SEVEN YEARS OLD. AFTER COLLEGE I JUMPED INTO IT AS A CAREER. RYAN: YOU HAVE A SHOW COMING UP TOMORROW? YES, IT IS FOR THE USE OF DEPARTMENT IN WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT. WE USED TO DO FUNDRAISERS ALL THE TIME. I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR THE DEPARTMENT. RYAN: LET’S SEE SOME TRICKS. I WAS PART OF THE BAND — JAZZ BAND AND THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO ME. MUSIC IS SO IMPORTANT TO EDUCATION. EXPOSING CHILDREN TO MUSIC AT A YOUNG AGE IS GREAT. I BOUGHT TISSUE PAPER FROM DOLLAR TREE BECAUSE I AM FANCY. RYAN: WHY NOT. YOU ARE NOT GETTING MARRIED AT TACO BELL, THOUGH? NOT YET. MAYBE NOT IN LAS VEGAS, THOUGH. I WILL GIVE YOU GUYS — IF YOU WANT TO CHOOSE ONE. TISSUE PAPER IS REPRESENTING THAT MUSIC TEACHES US. GO AHEAD AND CARE THE PAPER IN HALF. –TEAR THE PAPER IN HALF. RYAN: IS EVERYONE FOLLOWING IN THE AUDIENCE? EVERYBODY AT HOME? SHE IS GOING TO TAKE ALL FOUR PIECES BACK. ALL OF THESE PIECES COME TOGETHER — ALL MUSIC COMES TOGETHER TO MAKE YOU A CRITICAL THINKER AND A GOOD LEADER AND HOW TO WEAR MANY HATS. THAT IS WHAT BEING IN MUSIC AND THE BAND DEPARTMENT TAUGHT ME. IT IS ABOUT LEARNING HOW TO PRACTICE AND WORK HARD AND THAT MUSIC COMES TOGETHER. TERESA: COME ON. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? DID NOT ONLY COMES TOGETHER, BUT IT TEACHES YOU HOW TO JUGGLE WEARING MANY HATS. RYAN: DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT? GIVE HER A ROUND OF APPLAUSE. [APPLAUSE] HOW BEAUTIFUL. CAN YOU DO ANOTHER ONE FOR US? ABSOLUTELY. RYAN: THIS IS A GREAT LOOK FOR HER. I WILL BRING YOU ONE ALL THE TIME AND YOU CAN WEAR IT DAILY. RYAN: DO YOU HAVE A MATCHING PINK ONE FOR ME? THEY ARE RED AND PURPLE, DOES THAT COUNT? THEY ARE FROM STAPLES, SO NOT SUPER EXCITING. THESE TWO RUBBER BANDS ARE STRETCHED. THEY ARE SOLID — CIRCLES SO WE WILL LINK THEM. TERESA: HOW DID YOU DO THAT? THERE IS — THEY LINK TOGETHER AND THERE IS A WEAK SPOT IN THE RUBBER BAND AND WE CAN UNLINK THEM. TERESA: THAT IS INCREDIBLE. THEY ARE JUST REGULAR ELASTIC BANDS. YOU CAN LOOK AT THEM IF YOU WANT. TERESA: I BELIEVE YOU. YOU CAN GO TO MY WEBSITE,

  1. I admired your appearance on tonight's 4th season premiere of P&T: FOOL US. Although, I'm a little confused. You told the interviewers in your David Copperfield trophy clip that you were from Boston. Did you move there in between the transition from Connecticut to California?
