Put Yourself in Your Customers’ Shoes | Institution Marketing

One of the things that makes me chuckle
quite frequently online, is when I see people on LinkedIn and Facebook spouting
something as if it’s the greatest new thing in the world. One of those things
is when they say ‘Oh you really need to understand your customers’ and things
like that. I chuckle, I was taught that a long time ago by some very good people
who were taught by some of the industry greats. We were taught basically, put
yourselves in your customers shoes. It’s a really really simple thing, totally
immerse yourself from what you think your customers are like. Put yourselves
in their shoes, walk their lives, walk what they do and really understand them.
It’s not that complicated, but again people spout as if it’s something that’s
a newfangled thing to do. It’s not, it’s always being the case. First thing we
should ever do with any project is understand the clients business and
understand who the customers are. Dead easy.
