Run the Race – The Faith in Christ that Perseveres

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Do you not know that in a race all the winners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

  1. Thank you for this quality short film. It is encouraging and uplifting. May we all indeed run the race to completion, and win that reward that is offered to us.

  2. Solomon said “much study is a weariness of the flesh.”
Running a long race is also a weariness of the flesh. (The race is not a
sprint, it’s a marathon.) The race is not about faith, it’s about acquiring knowledge.
“If you shall have slightly more knowledge than another, you will have so much
the advantage in the eternal world.” So then what if you know slightly more
then the person who knows the most? Then you will know the most. And you will
have the advantage over everyone else in the world. This means you won the race
and win the prize. It’s a knowledge acquiring competition. “Do you not know
that everyone runs the race, but only one wins the prize?” The scriptures are
making an analogy out of running a race to studying and learning the
scriptures. Whoever learns the gospel the best and most and correctly, as
confirmed by the Holy Ghost; wins the race and the prize. The scriptures are Not
what they seem to be. Have you heard the phrase “mysteries of the gospel”? It
means Jesus is Job 17:4ing the people. Jesus, the church, and the scriptures
are All terrestrial. Because that’s the version that “beats” the devil. You
want a Celestial version of the gospel. Without it you can’t win the race. You
get it through the Holy Ghost, not Jesus. Ask the Holy Ghost in prayer, to
confirm or refute your beliefs and opinions. So what’s the prize if you win the
race? If you don’t believe what I’ve said above, you wouldn’t believe me if I
told you. Concentrate on winning the race, and believe me, you won’t be disappointed
with the prize you get if you win the race.

  3. At Isaiah 30 v 18 we are told "Happy are those keeping in expectation of him" God is fully aware
of our limitations (Psalms 103 v 14) Therefore, God does not expect us to endure trials in our
own strength, but offers us his fatherly help. Of course, at times, we might feel that we cannot
go on anymore. But, God assures us that he will never allow his servants to suffer beyond their
limit of endurance. Yes, he will "make the way out" (1 Corinthians 10 v 13) Therefore, we have
good reason to trust that God's assessment of what we can individually bear is right. When
relief does immediately follow our prayers for help, let us wait on the One who knows just when
to act in our behalf. Remember, he too is exercising patience, for he is ever eager to come to
our rescue. "God is waiting patiently to show you favor, and and he will rise up to show you
mercy. For God is a God of justice"

  6. Did Paul say only one runner gets the prize after running a race? And if that's true, then is only one person saved? That doesn't make sense his analogy, does it?

May he give us all strength to finish this marathon. Amen
